Vegan white chocolate, creamy, smooth, and sweet. Additive-free, it's one of my favorite snacks and requires 5 ingredients and 15 minutes!

Photo of some pieces of vegan white chocolate

I really am a chocolate person. I absolutely love its sweetness and smooth and creamy texture, but I don't enjoy all those artificial additives and preservatives. So I decided to make my own vegan white chocolate, and I'm SO excited about it!

It turned out delicious and it quickly has become one of my all-time favorite snacks. Besides, it is extremely easy to make and is ready with only 5 ingredients in just 15 minutes. This vegan chocolate really is out of this world!

How to make vegan white chocolate - Step by step

Step-by-step photo of how to make vegan white chocolate
  • Add the cocoa butter to a heat-safe bowl (photo 1). Set aside.
  • Incorporate a couple of inches of water (about 5 cm) into a saucepan and bring to a boil (photo 2).
  • Then place the bowl on top to create a double boiler (photo 3).
  • Let the cacao butter melt gently over medium heat (photo 4).
  • Once it’s melted, remove from the heat, add all the remaining ingredients (photo 5), and stir until well combined (photo 6).
  • Carefully pour the white chocolate mixture into a silicone chocolate mold (photo 7).
  • Transfer to the fridge or freezer and allow the chocolate to set.
  • Enjoy your vegan white chocolate straight from the fridge or at room temperature (photo 8).

Ingredients and tips

  • Cocoa butter.
  • Coconut oil: you should use coconut oil to make this recipe because, unlike other oils, it solidifies.
  • Vanilla extract: I always use homemade vanilla extract as it’s more affordable and extremely easy to make, but the store-bought version is also a good choice.
  • Powdered sugar: you can buy powdered sugar or make it at home in about 2 minutes with just 2 simple ingredients.
  • Soy milk powder: this vegan chocolate will work with any type of plant-based milk powder.

Is white chocolate vegan?

You may be wondering, is white chocolate vegan? Well, it normally isn't, as it usually contains some kind of dairy and you won't really find dairy-free white chocolate.

However, as I love chocolate (and white chocolate too), I decided to make my own white chocolate at home and I promise it is absolutely mouthwatering! Nobody will notice they're actually eating vegan chocolate.

Instructions

  • Add the cocoa butter to a heat-safe bowl. Set aside.
  • Incorporate a couple of inches of water (about 5 cm) into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then place the bowl on top to create a double boiler.
  • Let the cacao butter melt gently over medium heat.
  • Once it’s melted, remove from the heat, add all the remaining ingredients, and stir until well combined.
  • Carefully pour the vegan white chocolate mixture into a silicone chocolate mold (I used 2 of them). You could also use a lined cupcake or muffin tray, or anything you have on hand.
  • Transfer to the fridge or freezer and allow the vegan chocolate to set.
  • Enjoy your vegan white chocolate straight from the fridge or at room temperature.
  • Keep the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 1 month.

Notes

  • This recipe yields 2 white chocolate barks.
  • Feel free to add other ingredients to your vegan chocolate, such as chopped nuts, chopped dried fruits, or a pinch of salt.
  • Prep time doesn’t include the time you need to keep the vegan white chocolate in the fridge or freezer to set.
  • If you're looking for more vegan chocolate recipes, feel free to try these ones: vegan chocolate, vegan chocolate chip cookies, vegan mug cake, and vegan chocolate cake.

You mention in the notes that the recipe will work with any kind of syrup but there is no syrup listed in the ingredients. I'm confused as to how it fits in.
