Italian seasoning is a blend of dried herbs used in plenty of Italian recipes. It's ready in less than 2 minutes and tastes so good!

Italian seasoning is a very flavorful condiment that will give all your meals a delicious taste. It's very easy to make and requires inexpensive ingredients, and it's also very healthy because it doesn't have any additives.

Making your own seasoning is a good way of customizing it however you like. You can add, replace, or change its ingredients to taste, and it will also be more affordable than the store-bought ones. Besides, it's ready in just 2 minutes.

You can use it to prepare Italian dishes or any recipe that calls for this condiment. It also works as a replacement for oregano or basil in pasta, pizzas, salads, grilled veggies, and many other meals.

This Italian seasoning is made in no time with 6 different herbs. If you make it at home you'll save quite some money and you'll get a natural and delicious flavoring ingredient. Feel free to prepare it with anything you have on hand!

How to make Italian seasoning - Step by step

Step by step photos of how to make Italian seasoning
  • Add all the ingredients to a small bowl (photo 1) and mix until well combined (photo 2). You could also place them in a jar and shake until well mixed or blend until you get the desired consistency.
  • Use immediately or store in a dark, cool place.

Pro tips

  • If you can't find some of the herbs, feel free to omit or replace them, but it would be best to make this exact recipe.
  • Dried herbs work better than fresh herbs and they will make your seasoning last longer, but you could also use fresh ones.
  • I'd rather mix the ingredients in a bowl because it's fast and clean. However, if you are looking for a lighter texture or your herbs don't have a similar size, you can use a blender or a grinder.

How long will this Italian seasoning keep?

This delicious condiment is made with dried herbs, so it's not fresh. Remember to keep it in an airtight container at room temperature and it will last for months! As long as it looks good, smells good, and tastes good, you can consume it.

Can I change this Italian seasoning's ingredients?

Although there are some essential ingredients, you could also add some salt, ground black pepper, cayenne flakes, coriander, ground cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or pretty much any herb or spice you want.

How to use Italian seasoning

You can use it to make all kinds of recipes. Use it in cabbage soup, vegetable soup, vinaigrette, roasted beets, or even in your breakfast potatoes. Add it to all your favorite recipes!
