Simple vegan cashew yogurt - Making non-dairy yogurt at home is so easy, besides, it's healthier and tastes so good! We used unsalted raw cashews to make this delicious vegan yogurt.

Yogurt has always been my favorite dessert. Until I went vegan, I ate two yogurts every single day, one after my lunch and another one after my dinner. I don't eat yogurt as a dessert anymore because I only eat desserts once in a while because they are harder to digest after a big meal, so I prefer to eat sweet things at breakfast or as a snack.

When people want to go vegan, it's hard to give up dairy products because they're addictive, but fortunately there are so many non-dairy products available now and also so many recipes we can make at home.

We posted a soy yogurt recipe, which is made like regular yogurt and a coconut yogurt recipe, which is so quick and easy, but some of you don't consume soy and fresh coconuts are not easy to find in some places like Spain, besides, they're not always affordable, so we've made this new recipe using cashews instead. Hope you enjoy it!

Tips:

  • We haven't made this recipe using other nuts, so we don't know if it would work. If you try other nuts, please leave a comment.
  • If you don't add the probiotic supplements, your yogurt won't taste the same and it won't be so good for your gut either.

Thank you SO MUCH for this recipe! I have made it countless times and shared it with all my friends, family, and even a group of church friends: I did a demo, showed them how to make it, and handed each a printout of your recipe (so you get credit for it!) It is the thickest, creamiest, yummiest dairy-free yogurt I have ever had! One day I had been lazy and hadn't made a current batch, so I tried some store-bought cashew yogurt, and blech! Such a disappointment...thin, watery, and tasteless - a waste of money! You have spoiled me for all other yogurts... The only thing I do differently is I put it in jars in the instant pot for 8 hours instead of in a dark room in a bowl. I also make a point of sanitizing everything I use in boiling hot water before I use it because I had some failed batches that turned pink and stinky and gross. Now that I have that out of the way, let me just say....thank you thank you thank you for this!

Hi Alecia! I'm so glad to hear that, you made my day 🙂 I've never made it in the Instant Pot, but I'll try. Have a nice day!

This is my first time making yogurt. Is it that I soak the 2 2/3rds cup of raw cashews in the 1 1/2 cups of water listed in the ingredients overnight. Then in the morning drain what fluid is left from the soak and blend the drained cashews OR do I soak them in water, drain them then add the 1 1/2 cups of water and blend that.

Hi Anne! You have to soak them in water, drain them and then, add water and blend!

    Hi Losune,

This sounds great and so easy. What strength probiotics do you use? I have Renew Life 15 billion - would I use three of these?
    Thanks! Happy Holidays!
