Matcha latte, a delicious and comforting drink, full of antioxidants. It requires 3 ingredients and to make it you just need 10 minutes!

Matcha latte is one of the best drinks I've ever had! It's sweet, tasty, and comforting, and it's perfect to enjoy on a cold winter evening when you feel like something warm and cozy.

This beverage is a healthy alternative to coffee and has so many benefits for your body: it works as a boost for memory and concentration, enhances calm, contains lots of antioxidants, and detoxifies the body, among others.

Besides, you can customize it with your favorite ingredients. It tastes amazing with spices like nutmeg, ground ginger, cloves, or cardamom, and I like to make it with a different kind of plant milk every time.

Please keep in mind that you can make this recipe in plenty of different ways, but I absolutely love to use a traditional bamboo whisk to enjoy the matcha experience to the fullest.

Matcha latte, an amazingly good drink perfect to keep yourself warm during the cold months. It's simple and very easy to make, and to prepare it you only need 3 ingredients and 5 minutes!

How to make matcha latte - Step by step

Step-by-step photos of how to make matcha latte
  • Heat the plant milk in a saucepan over medium heat until hot (photo 1), stirring occasionally (photo 2). Set aside.
  • Combine the boiling water, the matcha tea powder, the maple syrup, and the ground cinnamon in a small bowl with until well mixed (photo 3).
  • Pour the milk into a mug (photo 4), add the matcha tea mixture (photo 5), and stir until well combined (photo 6).
  • Serve it warm.

Pro tips

  • Feel free to use your favorite plant milk. Soy milk is my favorite choice for this recipe, although I also really enjoy it with almond milk or coconut milk.
  • You can replace the maple syrup for any other kind of sweetener, or simply don't add any if you don't want to.
  • Vanilla extract and ground cinnamon are optional, but they give the matcha latte a great flavor.
  • If you don't want to give it up during the summertime, you can also enjoy this delicious beverage with some ice if it’s really hot outside.
  • To enjoy the matcha experience to the fullest, I do love to use my traditional bamboo whisk. It is so easy to use!

What is a matcha latte?

Matcha is made by grinding the entire tea leaf into a powder. That way you end up consuming the whole leaf, that has about 10 times more nutrients and antioxidants than regular green tea, and it's usually more flavorful.

How long will this matcha latte keep?

You can keep the leftovers (if you have any!) in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. I suggest you reheat it in the microwave or in a saucepan until warm.

Can I make a matcha latte without any sweetener?

Of course! For a healthier version of this recipe, you can just omit the sweetener or blend 1 or 2 dates with the plant milk you'll be using. Another option is to use sweetened plant milk or even add spices like nutmeg, ground ginger, cloves, cardamom, etc.

Matcha doesnt taste good. I bought it thinking that it would taste like green tea in a stronger version but it tastes fishy...i cant really describe the taste. I tried it with milk but still is hard to drink.... Matcha is not for me.

Hi Paty! Try to add less matcha powder or try other type. It doesn't fishy for me and I think it tastes better than regular green tea. Hope it helps!
