How to make garlic green beans

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet and when it’s hot, add the green beans. Cook over medium-high heat for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from the heat, add salt and pepper, and stir.
  • Serve your garlic green beans immediately.

Ingredients and tips

  • Extra virgin olive oil: I’m Spanish, so I use extra virgin olive oil to cook most of my dishes, including this easy green bean recipe. However, feel free to use any type of oil. I always use extra virgin oils when possible because they’re healthier.
  • Green beans: I used fresh green beans because I believe they’re the best choice. However, you can also make these garlic green beans with frozen green beans (you don’t need to thaw them). Frozen green beans will release their own water during cooking, so you may need to cook them for longer until the water has evaporated.
  • Garlic.
  • Salt: I used iodized salt, but any type of salt will do.
  • Ground black pepper: fresh ground black pepper tastes amazing. However, I find the store-bought version to be more convenient and easier to measure with a teaspoon.
  • Feel free to incorporate some chopped vegan bacon, tempeh bacon, tempeh, or even seitan to this easy green bean recipe.

How to freeze green beans

To freeze garlic green beans, let them cool completely, put them in serving-size containers, and leave them in the freezer.

To thaw, transfer the containers to the fridge and reheat the green beans on the stove or microwave. They will last in the freezer for about 10-12 months.
